Common questions
Which countries is Roost available in?
Roost is on the Apple App Store worldwide, with one exception: it's not yet available in the United States or China — we're working on bringing it to both. Everywhere else, search "Roost" on the App Store or tap Download on our home page.
How does the free trial work?
Sign up and your 7-day free trial starts immediately. You won't be charged unless you let it auto-renew. Cancel any time from iOS Settings → your name → Subscriptions.
Does the subscription cover my whole family?
Yes — one subscription covers as many family members as you want to invite. There is no per-seat fee.
How do I invite someone?
In the app, go to Settings → Invite a family member. Roost copies a one-time link to your clipboard. Send it to whoever's joining (text, WhatsApp, email — your call). They tap the link, sign up, pick a name and colour, and they're in.
How do I cancel?
On your iPhone: Settings → your name → Subscriptions → Roost → Cancel Subscription. You'll keep access until the end of the current billing period.
How do I get a refund?
Apple handles App Store refunds. Go to reportaproblem.apple.com, sign in with your Apple ID, find the Roost charge, and request a refund. We don't see your card details.
How do I delete my account and data?
In the app: Settings → Delete my account (at the bottom, below Sign out). You'll get a two-step confirm, then your account, every family you own, and all your content are removed immediately.
If you can't get into the app, email support@roostonline.co.uk with the subject "Delete my account" and we'll do it for you within 30 days.
Where is my data stored?
On Supabase servers in the UK (London). Photos and voice notes are in a private bucket — only your family members can see them. See the privacy policy for the full list of processors.
Does Roost use my data to train AI?
No. We don't sell, share, or train on your content. The meal-idea feature sends only your dietary preferences and the slot (breakfast/lunch/dinner) to Anthropic's API. No names, photos, or family content are sent.
Connecting Google Calendar isn't working
The calendar sync URL is read-only and pulled by Google every ~15 minutes. If new events haven't appeared after a while, open Settings → Google Calendar sync in Roost and tap Rotate to get a fresh URL, then re-add it in Google Calendar. URLs expire after one year, so this is also how you rotate it on schedule. If it still doesn't work, email us with the URL and we'll investigate.
Voice notes aren't recording
The first time you tap the mic button, Roost asks for microphone permission. If you said no, go to iOS Settings → Roost → Microphone and toggle it on.
